FOR PATTY

This is a temple in the Himalayas, Place is called Grahan, used to be a 4 day trek in the late seventies early eighties. Very old slide which I copied with a digital macro. This place keeps appearing in my dreams even now.

This is very beautiful. The slide came out well. It is very interesting to see something different. Would be a very nice dream, indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Patty, taking a picture of the slide is a bit cumbersome, I have made a contraption, like a slide stand. use a tripod, camera is fixed in a place the slide stand goes back and forth.

Its a temple e2d, the place in Grahan, Northern Himachal, very old picture, used to be a 4 day trek in Early 80's Kulu -Bhuntar- Kasol-Manikharan.

Are you from Kerala e2d ? I've been to Silent Valley in the 80's From Mannarkad side, Palakkat-Mannarkad-Mukkhali-Aghali. Its silent due to the absence of crikets. Even in day time you could hear your own heartbeats. In the nights the silence was deafening. I really got scared when I couldn't sleep due to the deafening sound of my blood circulation. I carried my walkman. The sound coming from the earphones at the end of the room was so loud that I had to reduce the volume to the minimum.

wow..that must have been one heck of a trek!Kulu-Kasoli--all beutiful places.
& yep u r right --I am from that part of India and we took the same route to Silentvalley.Well..things have changed in Silent valley..u cant call it silent anymore...probably deep inside it still is but not in the outskirts..not with so many tourists and vehicles being allowed inside.I would have loved to go for the 15 day trek the forest dept arranges..u get to trek across the jungle and u can either enter from kerala and exit in TN or even the other way round. But didnt have the time and getting permission I heard ..is one heck of a painful procedure..u have to start at the state capital.lol!and didnt have the time also.

e2d, Kasoli is a different place, this is near Kasol.
you are right. Kerala forests dept is not very tight. As I was leaving silent valley (I was forced to vacate. I was leaving anyway i couldn't bear the silence.) I saw the forest range officer enter the place where I was staying with some minister and friends with guns, i heard them talk about the spots for hunting.
i saw the booz bottles being unloaded from the jeeps.
